About Kelly

Welcome to Crux Solar, where Kelly's journey from a solar generator project at age 13 to a career in renewable energy has profoundly shaped our dedication to sustainability and innovation in Central Virginia.

Kelly's career has included pivotal roles such as Vice President of Field Operations at Sun Tribe Solar, technical sales support at Sun Day Solar, and leadership as branch manager at Alt Energy (now Tiger Solar).

In 2013 fueled by client requests to build bespoke, efficient solar solutions, Summit Solar was born and rebranded as Crux Solar in 2019. Just as in climbing, Crux symbolizes the toughest challenge—the pivotal moment of perseverance and determination.

Since 1987, Kelly has explored the heights of West Virginia, witnessing firsthand the impact of mountain top removal on landscapes and water tables. His experiences traveling westward further fueled his passion for solar energy, which proved more viable locally than wind power.
